Yanukovych: Ukraine Joining NATO Would Have Been a "Disaster"

Yanukovych has stated that he purposefully worked to bring Ukraine closer to the European Union, but the Europeans acted incorrectly.

Additionally, the former president of Ukraine noted that he has always been a staunch and convinced opponent of Ukraine's membership in NATO.

Yanukovych added that Kyiv's accession to the alliance would have been a disaster and a direct path to civil war in Ukraine.
